Our beautiful Bantam (wheaton) hen "Weezie" died this afternoon. She was nearly three and had been in very good health. We're not sure what happened. Started acting less-than-perky on Monday. Revived a bit on Tues-Thursday. She never stopped eating or drinking. My wife and I raised her from a couple of days old, along with "Thelma" a Silver Duck Wing Banty rooster. I think she may have eaten some rat poison. I just don't know. The rooster is showing no signs of ill health. I'm wondering how he will act now that his companion is gone. Will he become aggressive? Any suggestions, ideas. I can't begin to describe how bad we feel.

dwa, sorry for the loss.
I think lonesome is what will happen. Please use caution with anything your flock can peck at, cause that's what they do.

Everyone learns from mistakes, that's the way we all learn.

I suggest you get a buddy for the only one, if that is the case.

Chickens are a flock bird and do much better in numbers, that is why we all have so many.

Good Luck, bigzio

Sorry to hear of your loss
