Run Suggestions on Asphalt Driveway?

Hey all,

so I recently moved into an urban townhouse and unfortunately our backyard is about 100% asphalt. I really want to put chickens in, but tearing up part of the driveway and planting grass and such seems a bit unrealistic. Does anyone have recommendations for what I could put in to make a small enclosed area, big enough to fit a coop and some space to roam around in? So far I've seen woodchips are doable... What do you think?

Welcome! I would use wood chips, but sand works well for some people too. Mary

You can also consider sand. Drainage will be important with sand or wood chips. You may want to "block" in your area with either of those two choices.
