Our beloved Chata died this morning at 7 a.m. She was the leader of the flock. Always the first to eat and drink water and the others followed their leadership. She constantly monopolized food and snacks!. She was Anke's best friend since babies. It weighed 10-11 pounds and because of its weight and size she had some difficulties. Specially when going down the stairs or down from the roost where they slept. As she was stuck without being able to go down the stairs (that go to our entrance), she decided not to climb the stairs again and wait for us to go down. Also because of her size Chata was constantly dirty under her body and in its tails. Last night we brought her into the house to clean her up and she looked normal. I just noticed that She was heavier than normal and a little swollen, it looked like, she was about to lay an egg. We left her outside, and she went to roost normally. When we went to see them this morning at 7 a.m., she didn’t come down her roost. And we found her dead. Apparently she was egg bound overnight, It was a month before her first year. We're gonna miss her terribly, and we're so very sad. RIP Chata!!
