When is the best age to tell (besides waiting until they crow!)?It's usually too early to tell, but that last one has a pretty big comb and thick legs, which makes me think a cockerel, but I could be totally wrong!
That's my only americana I hope she is a she! I have wondered about her thick legs though.Too early, but I would highly suspect the very first is male due to the quite thick legs. 8 weeks is a good age to get a better idea.
So usually around 3 months, I've found, is when they start looking like a cockerel/hen. Sometimes it's easy to tell before, other times it can take up to the time they start crowing or laying to tell. When is the best age to tell (besides waiting until they crow!)?
It's very possible it is a rooster, but don't worry too much, a lot of my americaunas have thick legs/big feet, even the hens. That's my only americana I hope she is a she! I have wondered about her thick legs though.
Thank you!! I won't freak out yet. Thank you for the correct spelling too, I knew I was spelling the breed wrong! It's very possible it is a rooster, but don't worry too much, a lot of my americaunas have thick legs/big feet, even the hens.
