My BR laid a giant first egg Today. She's about 5 months old.

I'm so excited that I finally get to post to this thread! My Rhode Island Red finally gave us an egg! She is 24 weeks and is the first of our girls to lay.

Her egg is on the right, next to a store bought egg.

After almost seven months of waiting, we finally got one! Our partridge cochin, BB sure made a lot of noise, but she showed us what it was all about. Our first perfect, brown egg! Now we hope that her buddy Vivienne will get the picture and follow suit. I'm ready for an omelette!

It was the first egg that I got.....but I cheated and bought hens that were already laying

I went out this morning to feed the ladies and it was pretty boring out there so went back this afternoon to kick the ladies out into the run for some fresh air while I cleaned things up a bit and when I turned around this is what I found!!

Don't know who is responsible for this lovely little egg - but I'm SO HAPPY for my first egg!! What a wonderful DAY!
