I would like to experiment a bit with my new babies arriving next week. Sand in the brooder over shavings would save dust, clean-up, money, and time. What are your thoughts?

I've seen some things on using it. The general idea I get is: never until they're eating regularly, use only normal sand, and it can have some harmful microbes it it, so be wary.
Also remember that if you use a heat lamp, sand can get hot on their little feet.
Remember this stuff and it should be fine.

Good note about the heat! I hadn't considered that.

I wonder if they would kick it in each others faces scratching around?
