Now that plants are growing abundantly I’ve noticed some strange grazing habits. I’ve allowed geese to graze some areas they haven’t before and I’ve seen them eating the stems and leaves of poke weed.

My limited knowledge was based on what I can read online regarding poke weed toxicity, the general consensus is that if cooked correctly the young shoots and green leaves are safe for human consumption (NOT GOING TO TRY I PREFER CABBAGE).

Meanwhile there is little information regarding geese and pokeweed online and just wanted to see if anyone’s gaggle enjoys to ravage poke as mine do?

Pokeweed is poisonous to everything, don’t let them eat it.

They're probably interested in it for the look and texture, it looks like a delicious snack, but it definitely isn’t.
My geese don’t touch it in my yard because I don’t think it tastes good, but definitely don’t assume that yours aren’t eating it and try to block them from doing so.
