Yes, thanks... the daffodils look amazing this week and both are blue plymouth rock.

I think BLUE is a most fantastic color for birds -- of any chicken breed. Once we got a Blue chicken we were hooked to get more! I mean, ALL chickens are beautiful with their specialty patterns -- speckled, laced, cuckoo, porcelain, lavender, etc, and I love 'em all. But once we got our first Blue Breda I was mesmerized. And got 3 more Blue Bredas.

FIRST BLUE BREDA -- PULLET

2ND BLUE BREDA -- COCKEREL WAS MISTAKENLY SHIPPED TO US AS A PULLET

3RD BLUE BREDA -- PULLET

4TH BLUE BREDA -- PULLET

WE TRIED A CUCKOO BREDA BUT NOT VERY STRIKING COMPARED TO THE BLUE'S - ALL BREDA VARIETIES MUST HAVE FEATHERED LEGS/TOES, VULTURE HOCKS, WHITE EARS, AND A TRIANGLE FEATHER CREST WITH NO COMB.

B/B/S Breda were interesting striking birds for their uniqueness but they were not hardy and breeding interest waned. The Blue/Black/Splash varieties were the friendliest, Mottled variety were skittish, and Cuckoo were very tall and statuesque compared to all the other Breda varieties. Our Cuckoo was hardy but re-homed at 5 yrs old because she was 7.5 lbs and bullied our 2.5 lbs Silkies.

Since we've attritioned down to just Silkies we ordered a Blue Silkie in a group of 3 Silkie chicks. I always wanted a Blue Silkie and after 13 years of backyarding we finally got a Blue Silkie! Maybe I'm partial to Blue chickens cuz every Blue bird we've had has been our smartest, gentlest, calmest birds of any other color varieties in chickens. Could be just coincidence but the Blue birds have all been our best flockmates -- neither bullies, neither timid, neither stupid, and calm as adults. I hope that's the consensus of other Blue bird owners?!

@TinyRaptorDodos -- I am still continuing to enjoy the cute names people give their birds -- "Chicklynn" -- and she has gorgeous feathers!

@mararva -- are your birds both Blues? Very nice pic for Spring!

@kittyvamp1884 -- maybe Ebony was waiting to see if you'd walk with her to the coop? Our Dominique waits by the door for DH to escort her every night! Looks like the Silkies might be catching the habit too!

Haha! I have two Rhode Island reds, Agnes and Gladys, who both run to the door at night for an escort to the coop. (Braving our young rooster's attentions no less)

If I'm taking too long and they start to go in the coop on their own, but they see me at the back door, they will flee the coop and come get me and walk me to the coop. It's so adorable!

With our great new homepage for BYC, we've also now got an exciting new system and process for our Picture Of The Week (POW), so we need your submissions!!!

Your Submissions MUST:

• Be an image you took & own the rights to
• Be a sharp, clean, picture that's at least 800 pixels wide
• Include a short sentence about your picture, e.g., "My overly friendly Buff Orpington named Alehendra"
• We prefer "landscape" (sideways) photos, but we'll accept really awesome"portrait"(tall) pictures... we just may need to crop them

Submit your POW by simply replying to this thread and attaching an image

We don't have a strict process or time-frame for how/when the POWs are posted, but in general they will be posted to the homepage weekly, and clicking on the POW will bring you to the post within this thread where the image was submitted.

Beardie has shaded feathers like a Blue maybe? -- I do love Blue and she looks sweet and smart.
