I should have said : they don't taste like fresh tomatoes to me. I'm not a fan of ketchup and to me they have that same overwhelming twang.

Sun-dried tomatoes, to me, have a very intense flavor, kind of the way raisins are to grapes. Or prunes are to plums. Tomatoes intensified, if that makes sense.
