My boyfriend brought her home from his friend’s house, who raises these types of birds in his backyard for meat. She was about to be slaughtered and apparently my boyfriend was going to slaughter her for himself but he didn’t so now she’s my friend. He has never brought home a chicken before so this was a fluke thing. I don’t eat chicken/meat so it seemed natural to treat her as a pet.
In reference to your signature quote, I too, am easily distracted by my chicken!
She’s been so happy and active. Even if she dies of a health complication at a young age, I’m glad she got to have a fun life here.
