(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am not new to chickens - have helped raise them for about six years. We got them all as pullets and many have lived out their natural lives.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Currently own 13 but they are being rehomed as we cannot take care of them properly until August.

(3) What breeds do you have?

Currently have: 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Australorps, 2 Buff Orph., 2 Ameraucanas, 2 Delawares, 1 Plymouth Rock, 1 Silver-Laced Wyandotte, and 1 Red Star.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

I found it online while looking up care for chicks! I belong to rabbit, hamster, and mouse forums as well and they've all been super helpful in my care for them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I am currently a university student but I spend a lot of time with my friends - watching anime and other shows and movies, drawing (animals only of course!), knitting and doing embroidery and cross stitch, and caring for my pets.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

When I get my own chickens I will be living in a small town with my sister. We will both be commuting to school but will spend a lot of time at home with out pets: five rabbits, three hamsters, six mice, and a blue-tongue skink. Hopefully we'll be adding a puppy and some button quail into that mix. Maybe a cat as well, we'll see!

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us, even if you don't have chickens (YET! ;)). There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like me :old will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
