Ordered a hatchery's choice assortment (egg colors, hens) from mcmurray. They arrived a week ago. Said yes to freebie. Had one not make it (didn't perk up after arrival). Of the 15 birds left, 3 have 5 toes. One's a Dorking, the other 2 are houdans. I think the red one is a RUT. 2 black have head spots leading me to think they will be barred in some form. Of those 2, 1 has white wing tips, yellow/white backside, and I think a rose/pea comb. The other has a BLACK backside and wing tips and lighter (yet still dark markings) on the face. It also has dark legs.
The Dorking and 1 of the Houdan are not in the pics. Of the other chicks, 3 chipmunk striped have different legs. 1 is a yellow-orange the other 2 are whitish cream. (1 welsummer and 2 speckled sussex?) I think the little gold chick with the brown cap and black speckled is a golden penciled Hamburg. The yellowish grey-black chick is maybe a silverspangled Hamburg or a Wyandotte? There are 2 DARK chipmunk babies I think are golden wyandottes. None have feathering on their feet. Do the marans grow feathers in later or have them at hatching like cochin and brahmas do?
