My chickens love pecans

I sure hope pecans are ok for them to eat, they love it when I crack the nuts and feed them. Tonite my grandson was even helping me step on the nuts and break them so the girls could have some.

We have mature pecan trees in several of our pens. I don't pick most of them up and I'm sure the chickens enjoy any they can get into.

Interesting. I received a big bag of pecans from a neighbor yesterday & forgot it outside. When I let the chickies out, I saw they were trying to eat them. So I just stepped on several to crack them open. The girls had a ball. They were really good at picking out the meat from the shells.

Aw.. sounds so nice. Wish I had a pecan tree in my coop. I should try feeding my chickens almonds, we've got tons of those.

(I think our chickens may be spoiled... pecans, almonds.. they cost quite the pretty penny, anybody been to the store lately?)
