Magpie wants to be friends with my ducks

I’ve got the same thing going on with a couple of ravens. They follow my chickens around and watch over them while they free range. I’ve also noticed that they chase away hawks, try to keep the magpies, it’s free security!

I was wondering that
They are a family to the raven ?
I guess this probably happens in the wild a lot we just wouldn’t notice it
I have lots of birds fly around my yard but never had one that comes to talk to then before
Hopefully my cats don’t get it
They also protect my ducks
My cat ran up and growled and hissed at a deer that came to the retaining wall to see what the noise was
The cat wasn’t happy about it
When the deer stepped back away from the wall the cat was fine to let it eat grass and apples from the yard

The last few weeks I noticed a magpie would come to the fence and chat loud at my ducks
As the time went on the magpie would get closer and closer
Today I was cleaning the duck pen and could hear the magpie very loud
I look and it’s sitting at the duck door looking in
By the time I got my phone out it had moved from the doorway but was still standing with the ducks
Anyone else have a magpie want to be friends with their ducks

We have a big group of magpies here, I love them. Although I hate how they prey on baby birds! I still respect them for their intelligence and observe their personalities. They havent ever shown any interest, but my girls are just fascinated by other birds!
When they free range, only the pigeons, blackbirds, robins, will land nearby, and theyre very peaceful. My girls will watch them, very fascinated, Im quite sure my girls want to be friends with them, but the other birds arent too interested!
