I can understand why they do it, but it's definitely annoying . What will you end up doing now?

I'm not sure. As I said, I don't want birds that are related. So that really limits my options, unless they have several unrelated pairs of a certain colour.

They should be fine for a few generations, and you could mix them with your existing birds. I'm guessing you're not going for hatching eggs due to disease that could spread through your flock?

I have a vase filled with a feather from almost every chicken I’ve had that died. Some are from like 2016. View attachment 3762462Plus all the feathers I think are pretty when they molt. Also I have an assortment of feathers from different birds (egret, flamingo, owl, hawk, eagle, etc.)

I was going to keep them separate and breed them to sell chicks, yes.

They aren't very common around here. The other hatchery is way too expensive, unless I get eggs.

Oh, and the other hatchery only sells straight run, so either way I may be stuck with a bunch of unwanted roosters.

Are you against culling?

I always cull with new batch of chicks I hatch, whether it be chicks or adults in the end.
