Laid one egg and then stopped😓

I have a polish mix pullet. Im pretty sure the egg came from her. She laid an egg Friday and hasn’t since. Is this normal? Excuse the bare nesting box she likes to kick most of the shavings out before she gets in.

Yes that can be completely normal. It can take some time for their laying cycle to be established and it's always changing.

Every pullets is different. Some start laying and are regular pretty quickly. Other lay once and than nothing for weeks again. It just all depends.

We have six chickens, live in Texas where it is now hot. We've had them since chicks going on a year ago now. A couple of them did not lay eggs for several weeks when they got broody and wanted to sit on the other's eggs. After awhile they resumed egg laying as before. A tip regarding shavings in the nest - ours did the same thing (didn't like the shavings) but we put straw in there, just enough to cover the bottom of the nest and they loved that nest! That's the nest they lay in now exclusively! They also made the straw into a circle around the edge of the nest so that the bottom of the nest is exposed. We put straw in the other nests along with the shavings, so far no takers.

Still haven’t gotten another egg from her. maybe it’s just too hot. One of my other chickens has been laying so that’s a plus. I will try the different bedding idea for the best thank you all for the replies.
