Welcome. Great introduction that made me laugh.Good afternoon, my name is Julie and I have just joined. I've been keeping all kinds of poultry since 1985 and now just have chickens down my allotment.
I have one Light Sussex LF hen.... who has just gone broody and 6 hybrid layers. I'm currently settling 18 eggs, half of which i will put under ChooChoo and half i will artificially incubate....starting tomorrow!..... i'm also giving ChooChoo (broody) a few eggs from next doors hens, which have been tread by the rogue cockeral from the farm next door! I'm doing this as i intend to take the pure bred chicks to rear, back home, and don't have the heart to leave her with no babies......
I have 12 Speckled Sussex LF eggs and 6 BL Wyandotte LF eggs.....PLUS the four mongrel eggs from the plot next door. So that will be 22 altogether. I'm a chicken math Professional.... so I regard potentially 29 (altogether) chickens as "several" if any non chicken person is rude enough to judge and ask lol....
