This duckling hatched about 10 minutes ago and seems to be doing fine except for this large attached bulb. What is this? What can I do about it? Is this normal?

Congratulations on the hatch! :highfive: Your duckling has an unabsorbed yolk sack. It is very important not to rupture it as your duckling needs the nutrients. Do not let other ducklings peck at it. Let it absorb. In the case it does rupture, not everything is lost. Your chick will, however, need food and water right away without the yolk sack to use. If this does happen it may need extra care and antibacterial cream to prevent infection. For the moment, keep your duckling in the incubator. Best wishes.

Thank you! This put my mind at ease knowing the baby will be ok! He/She has no other siblings right now, but may in a few weeks!
