Just found an egg no bigger than a quarter in length...

Have Bantam to Jersey Giants.. Jersey's are last season. Barred Rock too Rhode Island Reds,, and everything in between.. any explanation? Can't take a picture as I won't own a Smart phone and wouldn't know how to upload from camera given hours of work, but the dogs ate it anyway.. in under 90 seconds! It was brown, not Bantam.

Interesting as I have new and old.. Brown eggs, blue green Easter eggs and occasional white.. Bantams mostly.. small. It was a purplish brown and thought chili was a problem. Have to check my shorts.
