Well, I think he had the bugs to feed his parrot that sat on his shoulder. His nose was a good place to keep them so the parrot could reach around and peck them out. However, some Alabama wackadoodle (a @Kiki word) that was high on shrooms swiped the poor sucka's parrot. Things happen.
