We are surrounded by mockingbirds and bluebirds. Blue birds are normally peaceful except when males fight it out for a nest box with a hen.

We haven't seen any bluebirds in a couple of years. We had a lot of cardinals this spring, but now that those big mean Bluejays and mockingbirds are here, nothing else is hanging around.

Why

They are the bullies of the backyard birds.

When my younger brother was about 3 a bluejay chased him right through a screen door. My dad carved out a sling shot and he shot it one time taking the head off of a bluejay. Whether it was the right one or not who knows.
