They are little spiky balls from plants that look like grass but aren't. I guess they would be like thistles, but they are everywhere in Australia.

I think it would hurt punching sequins? Get sequin cut knuckles? worse than paper cuts right?

Then the sequins would fall off & leave a sad "got beat up dressed up" trail. We could easily track down the injured, just follow the glitter.
