You can't be serious. Yes. An original juke box (floor models) are loaded inside with actual LP records and record player. You can flip through the 'pages' and choose one song or several. Put your coins in the slot, punch in the numbers for those songs, the machine finds your record and loads it on the player, and voila...
I'm not sure how the tabletop models worked, but they were still in restaurants like Dennys, IHOP, diners, and truck stops until about the 1980's I think.
And most all taverns AKA beer joints had them filled with music for the occasion with what was often known as beer drinking music.
