I was looking at some incubators and I kept seeing the same ones over and over and I was wondering if any of you guys/girls had any experience with them and if you can possibly tell me your thoughts on them. Which on is worth it? Which one would you buy? How do they hold temperature/humidity . Do they work well? Anything that you guys can tell me would be great. I’ll post pictures of the incubatorS below

I don’t know what incubator to use, but @Nabiki is a quail expert. Along with probably @ButtonHoarder

I have a Hovabator, which is a very highly rated incubator. I would be completely happy with it if the turner didn't keep breaking.

Day 13 is usually lockdown. Lockdown isn't an exact date, hour, etc. It's a guideline. You want to give the chicks enough time without turning in order to position themselves inside the egg for hatching. I use the HatchKeeper app, and the dates are pretty spot on for me.

I use a hovabator too.

The rule of thumb I've heard is lockdown is 3 days before the expected hatch date stop turning.

I've never set quail before, but it works for chickens, ducks, geese, and guineas.

Definitely stick to the name brands, like the Hovabators. The cheaper ones are false economy. You'll save a bit of money upfront but they'll cost you way more in the long run. Both in unhatched eggs and heartbreak.

Of the ones you pictured either of the first 2 would work great for home use. Happy Hatching! :jumpy

Pigeons? People don't usually hatch them in incubators, because they need so much care afterward. Baby pigeons cannot walk around and eat and drink the way chickens, quail, and some other birds do. They need the parents (or someone) to feed them many times each day.

Pigeon eggs take about 18 days to hatch, so lockdown would be day 15.

There are several kinds of quail, and some of them take different amounts of time to hatch.
Button Quail and Coturnix Quail-- 17 days to hatch, so lockdown at 14 days
Bobwhite Quail--about 23 days, so lockdown at 20 days
(Other kinds exist, but I think these are the most common kinds.)
