I'm so sorry for your losses...especially since it's the same one...Chicken wire is great to keep chickens in, but nothing else out...Welded wire or hardware cloth is the best. Bend it out the bottom at least six inches and bury it a foot down.
I hope that you figure out who's animal it is and make sure you have pictures of the damage and of the dog.
As for the neigbhour who shot the roo who perched on his fence, what a jerk!
The one with the shoe eating dogs, I think I would've beaten her with the shoes.
It amazes me how people seem to think that the rules apply to everyone but them...
