I just adjusted my house clocks (that don't change automatically) ahead an hour.
I opened the coop and turned on the lights at 4:40 this morning, , tomorrow at 5:20 and Monday at 5.
Found a thin shelled broken under roosts at wake up. 2/4 good eggs today. GC

Had a good haul today, 15/17, which ties the best day in the henhouse so far. My wife cleaned out the fridge and made a stew out of leftovers for them yesterday, maybe that helped I'm loving the robust egg colors after the winter layoff. They'll fade some later on, but really nice now.

Some of our Marans hens from last year's hatch just started laying over the last couple weeks, others started between 24 and 26 weeks. You just never know....

Got both. 2-wellies and 2-BC Marans. Egg color is similar but the Marans have a smooth shiny chocolate coat while the Welsummers are a textured dark matte coat with the occasional speckle.
The two in front of the basket are Marans and the one on top in the back is a Welsummer. We're getting incredible orange yolks out of them also.
