Hot chickens

What I did yestery was I wet their dig spots and they didn’t mind the water could I just spray the grass with water like from a hose? I don’t have enough freezer space for a gallon sized bucket of ice sadly

It has been 109 for the last 2 days and 102 is forcast for tomorrow! My chickens have shade and I put small frozen bottles of water in their pen on the ground. But they are still with mouths open. One of them is not feeling well tonight and just isn't herself. Luckily, it does cool down at night and they have a cross breeze in their coop and a "screen door" on the front. I also sprayed down the run so the ground would be cooler. I feel really bad for them. It's not humid, though, thank goodness!

I don't know if chickens feel humidity like we do. Don't know who to tag to find out either.

IME the humidity does make the heat feel worse for them, just like it does for us.
