After getting several bites on the inner thigh and sides of the body, my mom found several of these in her room, and this is a screen shot of her video. She immediately went to cleaning out her room. We had gone to feed our chickens, and I found small tiny insects that look like this crawling on my arm.

I know there are different types of neem, and this is all I got. Would this neem oil extract be effective against possible bird mites, or chicken mites, or rat mites? Can anyone identify? I am located in Hawaii if that is any help.

I am so worried we may get an infestation, and my dad is coming home from the hospital recovering from surgery, I am highly stressed and slightly freaking out

Looks like northern fowl mites to me, in various stages, which is why they look different. As Kiki said permethrin works best, but the neem could probably be used first if that's all you have on hand. I have no idea what dilution you'd use on the birds though, @casportpony or @dawg53 will know.

I went ahead and made a concoction of the neem extract in a gallon of water with a tsp of soap and sprayed down their coop after spraying lysol. When I tested by spraying on one, it seems to not move, though im not sure if it is still alive. I also don't know if I actually found the source of the infestation as I can't see anything around the coop or inside. I would love to know more info on this stuff please. I feel like breaking down.

You'll need to treat your chickens as well as the coop and repeat every 7 days for 3 or 4 weeks to get any new ones that are hatching out. They usually come from wild birds that carry them, so that is the likely source. Sorry you are having to deal with this, been there, done that, it's a PITA.

Thank you. Do you think giving them a quick bath in Dawn soap and water is safe in the meantime while I try get things?
