I started working at a new urban farming store in Portland a year ago, we have chickens at the store and I started learning a lot about them. I couldn't keep them at the house I was living in at the time, but I I just recently moved into a house where I could get chickens and I jumped at the chance!
So here I am, hoping to learn as much as I can about keeping my chickens.
I currently have three chickens:
-Archie, the 5+ month Naked Neck Turken (not yet laying)
-Betsy the 5+ month red sex link (not yey laying)
-Bubbi the 7+ month Buff Ameraucana (laying! Pretty blue eggs!)
I found out about this site because I was trying to figure out how to cure chicken colds. My two younger chickens have had raspy breathing on and off for the last week. When I'm not doing chicken things, I'm a baker! I work at a bakery in downtown Portland and I teach baking classes at the urban farming store I work at. I'm also getting in to biking, I sew a little bit, read, do yoga and keep up my food blog: http://thebreadisinthebaking.tumblr.com/.
I don't really have time for much else...
I recently graduated from college where I majored in theater and psychology, I currently live with 4 friends and an indoor cat named Thursday.
