Newbie to BYC
Here's a little bit about myself.
(1) I've been raising chickens most of my life, so over 20 years. Not really sure when I officially started raising my own but I do know it was my mother's fault
(2) Does it make sense that I don't currently know how many I have? . I count by color when checking on them all. I think I have 39?
(3) I currently only have Bantam Cochins, Silkies, Satins, one Polish hen and a bunch of silkie x cochins. Oh and one little silkie mix from someone else's lines.
(4) I love watching my chickens grow, mature and become parents themselves. I find their antics to be quite amusing as well. Especially when they chase each other around because someone found a delicious treat.
(5) My other hobbies are raising horses, reading and drawing.
(6) I come from a very large family. Raised on a farm, the youngest of 8 kids (4 boys, 4 girls). I am currently a certified Horse Industry Technician. So basically I take care of other people's horses. We foal out around 50-70 horses per year, mostly client horses, almost all are bred to race. I currently own 2.5 horses (Arabian, Half Arabian and one 3/4 Arabian foal) and 2 dogs (Miniature Pinscher and Doberman).
(7) I found BYC while searching for birds in Ontario. It popped up an old ad on here. I'm pretty sure I had an account back when I was a teenager but I could be thinking of another forum.
