Has anybody used "liquid bluing" to treat their chicken's water?

Here's the information from Mrs. Stewart's website:

"Bluing is made of a very fine blue iron powder suspended in water ( a "colloidal suspension"). We add a nontoxic amount of a pH balancer and a biocide to prevent the buildup of algae and bacteria. (This may be why Mrs. Stewart's Bluing is loved by farmers who tell us they use it in the water troughs of their farm animals and by owners of lily and fish ponds.)

Mrs. Stewart's Bluing is nontoxic, biodegradable, non-hazardous and environmentally friendly."

Nice to know it isn't as creepy as I thought! I still wouldn't try it, though! But don't worry to much about what I say~I'm proud to be a pessimist!

Yes. I have used bluing in the water for new chicks. It is a trick an old school breeder passed on to me in 1980 after I started loosing chicks from something unknown. I went back to the breeder and asked what to do. He suggested I use Mrs. Stewart's bluing 2-3 drops per quart.
That cured the problem for us. Tried and true. "Since 1883, we have not recieved a report of a sick or dying animal as a result of using Mrs Stewart's Bluing in such ways."

Here is there website pdf,
