Jesus Loves You🌵
I came home from vacation to EIGHT broodies. Some of them were broodies that I have hatched with before. So I thought, why not do one last hatch for the year.
My most reliable broody (one of my first chickens ever- she goes broody every single year) was one of the ones who went broody. I trusted her, so I put her in the dog crate (the door stays open) with ten eggs, and expected her to stay on the nest. Well, she refused to stay on the nest. So I made a new nest, in a black crate, which is more open. I thought she might not like being in a dark corner. But she refused to sit there as well.
I tried a few more large broodies from the 8 broodies, and both refused to stay on the nest. I really didn’t want to have my Sebright hatch the eggs, because she can only fit so many eggs under herself… I wanted there to be at least 10 eggs so more folks can adopt an egg... but that didn’t work.
I labeled (marked with a pencil) the 10 eggs with a number (1-10). When it came down to taking 2 eggs out, the numbers got jumbled up, so here are the numbers under Goldie.

So now I have only four remaining eggs to be adopted. Not much, I know. Which is why I was hoping for the big broody to stay on the nest.
The reason I have four left out of eight is because I promised some folks that they can reserve an egg for this HAL. This is because their eggs didn’t make it in my last HAL (Peanut’s Hatch Along).
Here’s Goldie on the nest. The eggs were set on Tuesday, August 2nd. She currently has 8 eggs under her, 4 of which are already adopted.
She had the time of her life dust bathing yesterday.
All eggs have been adopted.
Here are all the numbered eggs.
Most of the eggs are largefowl eggs.
Egg 5 (blue egg) is a bantam egg from a Cochin X EE.
Any chick that hatched will be named by the member who adopted the chick.
