Pop quiz: you have 9 random fertile chicken eggs that have been in the fridge for a week what percentage will develop if incubated?

Answer: if they are something you are really excited about it would be 1/9, if, like this particular batch that we are trying ‘just because’ and to practice candling and break in a new incubator, then obviously it will be 8/9! Yeesh!

I've been surprised too that a week or two in the fridge doesn't hurt them. The hatch rate definitely goes down a bit, but it's always worth trying if you're short a few for the incubator and the fridge has several dozen of them.
