When winds tend to sustain around 18-20 mph and higher they begin looking for shelter in a calm area , and if that area is available they will come .

Build them a V shaped wind break 90° is ok , V to the prevailing wind . I know this seems odd as most wind beaks are 3 sided but this allows eddy currents that are counter productive . To test this theory try lighting the kerosine lamp with one of each construction style .

Since my area can get storm winds from any direction I made a t-shaped structure from straw bales to use as a wind baffle.

Interesting enough, when we had multiple tropical storms the summer of 2020 they would go in the coop when it was bad but come out to forage in the run between the rain bands.
