Never played Scythe, but it's a beautiful game. Wingspan is pretty good, but it's almost too "nice."

Now Catan's a game that can never be accused of being too nice. Catan "can get heated" is an understatement!

Catan is like monopoly for adults. Love that game but can get heated .

In our family it is a bit less about getting heated, and more that it takes sooooooooooo long. We have the expansion to play with more people because we have a bunch of kids, and a few grandparents who live close. By the end, everyone just wants it to be over.

We like wingspan with the older kids. Ticket to ride is fun too.

Taboo is a fun game for a group that's all old enough to read, and preferably have a little life experience to draw on.

Wits and Wagers is fun and little kids can do ok since the clues are often quite bizarre and no one has any idea of the answer.

We used to love Apples to Apples in college, but mainly because we were always trying to make the most ridiculous matches.

We play Cards Against Humanity on a pretty regular basis. It's like Apples to Apples for horrible people. (and NOT KID FRIENDLY)

I'm a word nerd and I absolutely love Scrabble. When my son is down we throw down on a few games of Yahtzee! as well
