Oh gosh, I probably should get breakaway stirrups. And a vest… I couldn’t sleep last night! I was too excited for sleep.
My riding instructor found out about it yesterday… I feel bad, but she’s happy for me. I’m pretty sure I will sometimes bring him to her for a few lessons every once in a while just to make sure I’m not picking up any bad habits.

He’s up to date on all his coggins (I have no idea if I spelled that correctly), he’s getting his hoofs trimmed next week, and he has had no health problems since they got him.
Auggie was a rescue I guess. He was skin and bones when they got him, and now he’s perfectly healthy. He’s a little chunky, but that’s because he’s not been ridden since January.
Lucky me, he’s known to buck when he’s had a long break.
For years I’ve been dreaming about what it would be like to have my own horse. And now I do! I’m so excited for him to move out to my farm. I got a similar picture of him as I got to a Lenny one time-

We are all so excited for you!

Estrella was giving me the evil eye at the vet clinic. By the end of the checkup Dr Zoe had her calmed down. I'll miss Dr Zoe as she leaves for another clinic but she's only moving to Bryan 35 minutes away. She said she'll miss us because we bring in unusual and interesting cases.

Adorable! She really is giving you the stink-eye. (At least that's what I call it)

Jaffarra is doing her Ballet lesson this morning

The kiddos are roosting on top of the brooder this morning - hey what’s with those spots on Jaffarra?? I really do not think she is an Americana.

Any ideas everyone? Could they have substituted a different breed with the Peavey Mart own order? They brought in 300 chicks, that’s a lot of chicks maybe Hoovers chucked in some extra breeds

She looks like she has puffy cheeks. If so, I'd say she is an easter egger (Americana) or olive egger. Easter eggers can be pretty much any color.
I don't know how they are classified there.
Here, Ameraucanas are bred true to color, and are considered a breed. But Americanas (difference in spelling) are easter eggers in the US. Easter eggers are any mix that carries the blue egg gene. They may, or may not, have muffs, pea combs, green or slate legs. So essentially may look like just about anything. To me, that is part of their charm- they are all different and unique.
Flower is an easter egger who looks like, and has the size, of a blue columbian brahma. She lays a green egg.

@BeastBaby
Has an extraordinary looking dalmatian chick called Mina who might turn out to be a boy. And @RebeccaBoyd has been doing a little matchmaking for him just in case @featherhead007 might be open to welcoming little Mina.

Poor Alex has been having a tumultuous time.

So soon after losing Sir Jaffar sadly he lost Beethoven-Hen

And Hen-Rietta sounds like is fading too

So sorry Alex you are going through all this.

His little ones however learned a thing or two from Jaffar before he left them in Alex's care, and they settled in to watch Saving Private Ryan. I am not sure if they are yet old enough to have a favorite movie - but it seems movie night will continue at the Featherhead home.
They are however plenty old enough to poop all over Alex and peck and scratch his face. Sounds like they are doing a good job at distracting Alex from the pain he is suffering.
:hugs

Good job Aero - who has emerged as leader of the gang. Next job is to teach your Hooman how to take pictures of you in focus!

Alex is looking for a rooster to come and take care of his flock. Everyone is missing Jaffar and the older ladies are getting a bit out of hand. Dakota has even been flirting with the rooster next door.
After some difficulty he has found a possible rooster locally. He is a good looking lad, but it is a difficult time to make big decisions so, wisely, Alex is waiting a bit to see if it feels right to have this rooster join his flock.

I am sure we all wish her luck after the tragedy of the broiler chicks she got last week.

Her Roo Thunder only has one wattle. That isn't really news, but I thought it was interesting and he is very cute in his baby picture!

Some real highs and lows for Pastel too this week.
Tragedy struck in the form of a rat snake

But on a high note (and I know, nothing to do with chickens), she got a horse!!

Operation Silkie Bonanza is officially launched and there will be babies! Though that may be sooner than Rebecca was hoping!
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27730899
Poppet weighs just shy of 2 pounds - I had no idea she was so tiny, but Rebecca was surprised that she even weighed that much!

Rebecca shared news of Owly's baby (and others)

And sadly Momma Hen has gone missing. I am personally a bit distraught about this as I love her stubborn character. Hopefully she is hiding somewhere and will return with a load of babies in tow, but she is getting a bit elderly and may not be as able to avoid predators as she has done in the past.

She also has a broody hen who seems like a whole different kind of broody from the ones that I am stuck with - she has a lovely Trilling Cotton Ball!

Have a lovely weekend everyone and don't forget to post a tax picture whenever you go off topic!

No you have got me wrong. I want YOUR cantankerous little poppet. Her personality sounds adorable and she's a proper little madam 😍
Back away from the Poppet. Little Poppet juniors, we may talk.
Honestly though, Poppet is my 3rd silkie pullet/hen. Poppy, Chiquta and Poppet have all 3 had similar personalities. Tiny little spitfires. Chiquita was more inclined to be a look but not touch hen I will give her that. She was friendly though, the potential was there but I did not raise her. Her daughter Tiger Chicken that my cousins have is a very spoiled pet who comes inside regularly. There is a good chance your uk silkies may have the same temperament.

Finally caught up again. Seems someone flipped the season switch, last Saturday we got a months worth of rain and barely made it to the mid 50s, todays high is forecasted as 88! It was in the mid 80s yesterday.
I have two broody ladies which leaves Brenna alone, she checks in with her sisters many times a day. I am thinking about a chick or two for each, but have to redo their coop access to be baby accessible, and find chicks I want. Off do get some yard work done before it heats up too much.
