Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I'm concerned, because he is for the most part a 98% indoor cat so it's hard to imagine where he got this from, if it is a virus. Never had something this noticeable before.

All he had to do was 1 time step in some pee another cat did and like his paws clean. Missy is also basically an indoor moggy but in the nice weather she has been known to go out in the paddock and sit on a fence post to see and catch mice in the grass.

If we can’t find her near the house that’s usually we’re she is. Or snoozing under my horse trailer.

Bob, this hurts past understandable reasons. All honors to Queen Aurora, but her knight died bravely in battle once again for the final time.

I have told her of his passing and she asked if we could fly her flag at 1/2 mast. Sadly we cannot, so we are removing it for the weekend in his honor.

Sir Jaffar, Knight Errant of Fluffy Butt Acres, Distinguished Knight in the Honorable Order Of Nardole the Brave, Black Medallion, has died. Knighted by Her Excellency Queen Aurora, Sir Jaffar fulfilled his command with Honor. He was Fearless, Brave, Kind, and always put the safety and welfare of others before himself.

BABIES EVERYWHERE
Yes, I cannot resist, almost every baby pic is linked in this Synopsis. Another epic installment, with Chick Candy! Lots of name ideas for @featherhead’s new chicks from the pastor. Aeronautical, alcoholic (not a chance), religious / Latin liturgical, automotive names. Healthcare supply names after Featherhead sustained injuries from the chicks (they are aspiring barbers). Featherhead will take his time and is not setting any deadlines on naming. No one is absolutely sure what breeds other than the EE’s they are either - Wyandotte, maybe a Buff Rock?

Ol’ Bessy Blue seemed to have a mind of its own. Now four mighty, tiny criminals are holding @Ponypoor hostage. They rode shotgun all the way home. Literally.

Caturday - Big Boy is under the weather. I'm keeping a close watch, this is day five of respiratory symptoms - sneezing & coughing, a little clear eye discharge, definite nose discharge. Very unusual for him. He seemed slightly better yesterday evening, scratching quite vigorously on a board and briefly looking outside, and his voice seemed clearer, but if he isn't definitely improving by Monday I'll call the vet. No blood in his nasal discharge. Every time I try to check his lungs with a stethoscope (of the blood pressure cuff we have) he starts purring.

This is probably the saddest post I have ever done here on BYC. I had to go to town this morning, and upon my return home I found Sir Jaffar lying in the run passed away. One of his spurs was hooked up to the chain link, as if fighting off a threat to his ladies. So, he’s gone and I am devastated.

I am so sorry to read this. I know how truly dear he was to you. I know there are no words that can make this any easier but you have our support and our deepest sympathies.

Maybe you could name them after famous criminals. Looks like they are doing time in there. They did rig your truck and force you to take them from the feed store, didn't they?

I haven't had time to check out your Illness thread on this. There's not hard pus in there?

Those legs look like the Buff legs the ones here had, a pale pinkish, caucasian flesh-toned color.

I never started a thread there. I was there when she hatched and she came out of the egg as she is. I was hoping it was swelling but honestly at this point, it really do suspect it is a birth defect. There is no apparent redness, no signs of infection at all. Just one unusually large eye. The chick can open and close it normally and appears to even see out of it. I treated for two weeks with Terramycin but it did nothing to help or hurt. Idk what else to do but wait and see how it looks as she grows and hope another chicken or chick doesn’t peck it.

I treated for two weeks with Terramycin but it did nothing to help or hurt. Idk what else to do but wait and see how it looks as she grows and hope another chicken or chick doesn’t peck it.

I hope that it is a defect that she grows into, and hope that it isn't something indicative of some sort of hydrocephaly.

If she is eating, drinking and pooping then I would just cross my fingers and hope for the best; as for another chick pecking her, I might put her in with a very quiet chick that doesn't have an urge to peck, or I wonder if some sort of protective goggle can be made up for her.
