Dipping back into quail

Havent had them since 2016/17 been looking but everywhere here wants $5-6 a chick seems expensive for a small bird but found someone selling eating eggs for $4 they said males where in with them so decided to try to hatch them two where cracked so I ate those. So that left me 10 eggs......two werent fertile so that left me 8 and out of those 8,7 hatched 8th pipped,zipped then died was sad but still got 7/8 thats not bad for $4 lol was suprised they all came out light colored so I will update this thread as they grow they hatched 4-10-23

Quail chicks have gone up in price sad to say. It looks like you have some Italian in the group. I’ve raised many colors but I think Italian are one of my favorite. They lay pretty well and assist in creating other colors. Most times temperament is balanced. Although my favorite is silver, they just don’t breed well imo. Congrats!

Ive had silvers in the past and they carry a letal gene or something. I would love tibetan those are pretty lol
