So we're trying the deep litter method in our coop (tonight's the first night). I want to make sure all my chickens are safe, so I've locked them in. but we're not supposed to get any water on the litter, and so my understanding is no water in the coop. Can they go all night without water? Has anyone else come across this issue? Thanks.

I use deep litter and always have water in the coop. Personally I would never let chickens go without water. Put your waterers up on some 4x4's or bricks. Only time you have problems with deep litter and water is if they flip the waterers.

I keep water in the coop. They really don't get the floor wet from the water. If they are locked up and can't get to water for even a short time it can affect egg production or worse.. I always have water where they can get it. I have a hanging waterer.
