If I breed Italian x Pharaoh what do I get in terms of color?
  • Will one be dominant over the other?
  • Or will end up as something in between the 2?
  • Or 50 / 50% of each?
Will having male vs female of one or the other make a difference?

Not real sure about this but if following genetics of the two birds, they would be brown, auto sexing, recessive. So you should get a paler Pharaoh phenotype offspring.

Disclaimer: I'm no expert of Coturnix quail genenitics.

I believe most of the well-known Coturnix genes are co-dominant or dominant. Italian is heterozygous fawn, and Manchurian is homozygous fawn. If you breed Italian X Pharoah, you should get 50% Italian and 50% Pharoah. Both are feather-sexable, and it shouldn't matter whether it's the roo or hen that gives the fawn gene. Iirc, Roux is the sex-linked gene in quail.
