Since I started raising chickens I realize how much chickens have influenced the culture and language, so many references to chickens...

These are some that come to mind..

Caught with egg on your face (eggeater). = Guilty, caught red handed.
Madder than a wet hen
Hen pecked
Nest egg (savings)
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch (hatch rate)
Mother hen
Like a chicken with it’s head cut off
Spring chicken
Rule the Roost
Bad egg
