Chicken Breed Focus - Maline

@Miss Ashly ,

I just did a quick Bing search and Greenfire was the only place I could find that sells them. They ask $59 per chick plus shipping.

Maybe there are home breeders that have them? If you really want some, looks like it would take some hunting (or just go with Greenfire).

From the looks of it, they're a lot bigger than barred rocks. Can't just go by the color of the feathering... if that was the case Australorps, Jersey giants, black copper Marans and black Orpingtons would all be the same bird too.. which they are not.

Yeah I saw that after I posted...... Hens can get to 10 lbs! Wow

I pop into the rare breed auction site from time to time looking for other French breeds, but the GFF lines still go for $$$. I understand supply and demand and will patiently wait until some of the breeds I am interested in are more widely available and/or attainable.

This is why I love the internet! I can learn about breeds without treveling across the globe. I knew that some very special birds come form Belgium but with Malines I alway associated the Belgium Sheperd Dog and the Malines seem to be real backyard pandas and are listed as endangered breed in Europe.

Since pics are rare here. Maybe some Pics from the Clubs in Europe will help to tell the difference between BR and Malines.
