Chick pipped 24hr+ beak out but no zipping.

Okay the chick has managed to get the top off but I think it’s wings are stuck to the membrane and it can’t get out. I’ve tried upping the humidity but he’s still stuck. Also I think he cut one of his legs on his way out :(
If he managed to get the top off the egg and can't get out the rest of the way, you can safely help him. Once that membrane has been broken by the chick, there should not be any more risk of him bleeding and he should have absorbed the yolk entirely (hopefully). Scoop him out and get him free of the shell and membrane. You will need to put him back in the bator to dry off and if you have other pipping eggs in there you will have to work very quickly and make sure the humidity stays up. You can treat his cut on his leg with a anti bacterial ointment when you get him out of his sticky situation. Good Luck.

You can take either a WARM moist washcloth or paper towel to start helping the part of the membrane that's stuck (as long as there's no exposed yolk sac).

If you can get the wing free from the membrane- and it's still possible- I would still let the chick try to kick out of the egg. Just slowly peel the membrane like a trash bag over a trash can. If once the membrane is free and clear it's still struggling, see what seems to be stuck - and help with that little part. if it can still kinda kick out on its own, I would opt for that.

For the leg I'd give it a gentle clean then a quick dab of (no pain relief) neosporin. Sounds like there's no other chicks to bother the leg- the main thing is to not leave anything bloody they'll pick at.

He’s out! I’ve taken the shell out so he can’t cut himself again is that okay? His yolk seems fully absorbed, there’s no yellowness. He’s thrashing about a bit though do I need to worry?

Wohooo!!!! Thrashing about is 100% normal. Gotta figure out how those legs work and everything. Excellent call in letting him rest around 3:30am. It's a lot of work getting out of the egg. Yes, you'd be able to see the yolk sac if it was exposed, so if you can't see it, you're in the clear!

If none of the other eggs hatch, it's probably time to think about finding him a friend. Are you planning to keep the chick or did you have someone waiting for whoever hatched? They don't do well as singles. Local feed stores usually have chicks this time of year- the younger the better. Do you have the ability to candle the remaining eggs to look for any further movement?
