Can you hatch a hens first eggs ?

Should i incubate or crack it open and take a pic?

well i got my first egg out of my silkie x Hybred and i was wondering should i incubate or crack it open and see if it was fertilised & got yolk?and then incubate her next egg ? please vote and ill make my decision at 8pm here it is to one of my other eggs

HI lucy! as you know you need a cockerel/rooster for the eggs to be fertile, so if your cockerel has been mating with your hens there is a possiblity that your eggs are fertile. just remember no eggs are deffinitly fertile. i have hatched many first layed chickens eggs and the chicks are great! But you will find that it might be better if you leave the hens lay more eggs so they can grow in size.
 
Small eggs = small chicks. That egg is really small... Rather wait for your hen to start laying "normal" eggs before you start incubating them. Pullet eggs can be hatched, but it's not recommended.
