Can I make a hole in a possible quitter egg?

What day are they on? And have you candled them? If they have internally pipped than yes you can put a small hole in the air cell to check for life. You can also try water candling to check as well.
Yep.
I had to make safety holes on a chicken and button quail egg before.
You just candle, find where air cell is, make sure baby is not in the way and mark a dot. Then, you take something like a drill bit or what I used, a thumb tac, and mark a x over and over until it's thin enough. Then, gently poke to make the hole. Simple but very nerve racking for sure.

Thanks for your help everyone!

I made a hole and both chicks were dead. They seemed healthy enough but maybe were too weak to crack through and lost air.
