I see Motor-homes and Travel-trailers in Walmart parking lots usually at the far ends of the lot. Many Walmart superstores are open 24 hr. They don't mind since the travelers come into store to purchase their necessities.
I have never personally seen a popup trailer opened up in a parking lot though.

Come down to Breaux Bridge, Louisiana in May for the Crawfish Festival. You will see all manner of campers and other vehicles at wally world, TSC and any other lot available. They will be there all week partying and dancing till dawn!
