Breeding with same rooster

Just hatching for my mixed breed flock, not doing specific pairings or even really keeping track of matings, I've kept a rooster about 4 years at a time. That's usually about how long he remains top dog. I figure once he's been disposed, it's time to replace him. I've used a son, or an unrelated rooster. I've not had any issues with health problems. Apparently my stock was pretty healthy to start with. Inbreeding or any close breeding is simply going to enhance whatever genetics are present, be they good or bad.

It's really easy to bring in a new rooster ever 4-5 years or so, if you're so inclined. Folks are always eager to give Oops cockerels away in the late spring or summer.
