I would like to make my own concoctions to help a hen who is sick, though seemingly on the mend, and I’d like to put some supplements/medication into those clear gel capsules. depending on what I’m giving her it’s easier to give her a pill than to risk aspiration with a liquid.

The clear gel capsules are safe for chickens to ingest, right? I would imagine so. Thanks for the help!

Gelatin is non-toxic, but you can give tablets easier by placing them into the back of the throat, or put things in small amounts of scrambled egg, cream cheese, or peanut butter. If it is water soluble, you can mix it in a small amount of water.

That’s my first line of defense for sure! The gel capsules would sort of be plan B . Thank you!
