Our username is no longer accurate. Haha. When we moved out of Missouri in 2015, we had to get rid of our flock. We moved to Colorado and had a tiny yard which could not accommodate chickens. When we moved again to upstate NY, we were excited about the chance to have chickens again. We live in a rural area, near Rochester, with lots of agriculture around us.

#COVID-19 kicked me back into prepper mode, haha, and so we're back to a chicken flock.

8 straight run chicks. If I had planned more, I would have just ordered sexed chicks. But 4 lavender orpingtons and 4 Australorps it was, and so we'll see who's a hen and who gets donated to some friends of ours with a small farm.

I'll have to construct a coop, I've got the tools and general building knowledge to do it. But our backyard is not huge (front yard is bigger) and so I'll need to be cognizant of our space. Looking for free coop plans that can handle 5-6 birds (I'm guessing our current 8 will include at least a few roos.)

Glad to be back in the BYC community!
