āž” Quail Hatch AlongšŸ„š

I had set eggs from our covey about a week ago and it looks like 36/50 are fertile! Not terrible numbers considering I had removed one roo for two weeks (I was giving the other roo time to mature/take over as dominant roo) and collected eggs only a couple of days after he was returned. Most of the eggs will be sired by Tidbit, I think, and I'm very excited to see what the temperaments of his sons are since he's such a good roo. I think I'll do a fun hatch-a-long when I get a moment to find a sharpie and mark the eggs c:

My last hatch just got moved outside.

@Kiki I had a decent hatch 10 out of 27 eggs. The other guy had 1 out of 36 hatch with a bum leg that didn't survive. I had 1 with splayed legs and one that I helped out that didn't thrive, so 8 survived.

I think he ran the humidity too high. But how are your hatches? The genetics seem a little funky.

One of my Kiki hatched quail has a shorter top beak. When I can catch her, she is doing fine. I hope it grows out but no idea why the top is shorter.

@Nabiki the roosters are starting to crow and I did miss it. Very comforting know the little guys are there and sounding off.
